# ThunDroid 2.2: A companion, front and center

Today we’re releasing ThunDroid 2.2, a complete reimagining of how the app feels from the moment it opens.
We built ThunDroid on a simple belief: a mental wellness companion should feel like a presence, not a product. Over the past year, as ThunDroid grew across 165+ countries, one piece of feedback kept returning — the most valuable moments in the app were the conversations themselves. Everything else was in the way.
So we removed everything else.
## Straight into conversation
ThunDroid now opens directly into a conversation. No dashboards. No menus. No decisions to make before you can say what’s on your mind. Just a calm space that’s ready when you are.
If you were in the middle of something, a new resume banner lets you pick up exactly where you left off. Small moments of continuity like this matter more in a wellness companion than in almost any other kind of software — the conversation you started at midnight should still be there, waiting, at noon.
## A design that feels alive
Version 2.2 is built with Apple’s Liquid Glass design language throughout — translucent, fluid, and responsive to the content beneath it. The result is an interface that feels less like a screen and more like a surface.
When you open the app, a living aurora moves gently in the background. As your conversation begins, it fades away. The design recedes so the dialogue can take over. That’s the entire philosophy of this release, expressed visually.
Underneath the surface, the app launches faster and animations are smoother across the board.
## Everything else, one gesture away
A new sidebar brings your full history and every wellness tool into one place: Journal, Breathing, Live Voice, and Food Log. You can pin the conversations that matter, search your history, and rename or delete anything with a long press.
Conversations now name themselves after your first message, so your history reads like a journal rather than a list of timestamps. Your profile name and photo now sync from Settings, everywhere.
## Refinements throughout
This release also includes a redesigned chat header with quick access to new conversations, smoother and more stable voice dictation — hold the mic, speak, release to insert — and fixes for duplicate food scan entries, chat scrolling gaps, and the natural swipe-back gesture. Dozens of smaller performance and reliability improvements ship alongside.
## Our approach
ThunDroid remains what it has always been: privacy-first, grounded in evidence-based frameworks — CBT, DBT, and ACT — and built with the conviction that the best technology disappears into the experience it serves. Version 2.2 is the clearest expression of that conviction yet.
